TopOneFutures Tradovate to TradingView Connection
You've got a TopOneFutures Tradovate account. You want to trade on TradingView charts instead of Tradovate's web platform. Good callâTradingView's charting is cleaner, faster, and more customizable.
Here's the thing: TradingView doesn't natively support "TopOneFutures" as a broker connection. But it does support Tradovate. And since your TopOneFutures account runs on Tradovate infrastructure, you can link it directly to TradingView using your Tradovate credentials.
This guide walks through the exact setup process, common errors, and how to troubleshoot connection issues.
Let's get you trading on TradingView.
What You Need Before You Start
Before attempting to connect, confirm you have:
- A TopOneFutures account on Tradovate (not NinjaTrader)
- Your Tradovate login credentials (username and password)
- A TradingView account (free or paidâboth work)
- Your Tradovate account activated and funded
If you're using a NinjaTrader account, this guide won't work. NinjaTrader accounts can't connect to TradingView. You'll need to trade on NinjaTrader Desktop or switch to a Tradovate account.
Step 1: Log Into TradingView
Go to TradingView.com and log into your account.
If you don't have a TradingView account yet, sign up. You can use the free version for thisâTradingView doesn't require a paid subscription to connect to Tradovate.
Once logged in, open a chart (any chart). You'll connect your broker from the chart interface.
Step 2: Open the Trading Panel
On the bottom of your TradingView chart, you'll see a panel with tabs: "Watchlist," "Alerts," "Trading Panel."
Click "Trading Panel."
This opens the order entry interface where you can place trades directly from TradingView charts.
If you don't see "Trading Panel" as an option, make sure you're on the chart view (not the homepage or screener).
Step 3: Connect to Tradovate
Inside the Trading Panel, look for a button that says "Connect Broker" or "Select Broker."
Click it.
A dropdown menu will appear with a list of supported brokers. Scroll down and select Tradovate.
You should see two options:
- Tradovate (live trading)
- Tradovate Demo (paper trading/sim)
Since you're connecting a TopOneFutures funded account, select Tradovate (live).
Step 4: Enter Your Tradovate Credentials
A login window will pop up asking for your Tradovate credentials.
Enter:
- Username: Your Tradovate username (provided by TopOneFutures when your account was activated)
- Password: Your Tradovate password
Important: Use your Tradovate credentials, not your TopOneFutures website login. These are different.
If you don't have your Tradovate credentials, check the email TopOneFutures sent when your account was activated. Subject line usually says "Your Tradovate Account Credentials" or similar.
Can't find the email? Log into your TopOneFutures dashboard and look for a "Platform Credentials" or "Account Details" section. Your Tradovate username should be listed there.
Step 5: Authorize TradingView
After entering your credentials, Tradovate will ask you to authorize TradingView to access your account.
Click "Authorize" or "Allow."
This gives TradingView permission to:
- View your account balance
- Place trades on your behalf
- Access order history
This is normal. TradingView needs these permissions to function as a trading platform.
Step 6: Confirm Connection
Once authorized, you should see your Tradovate account appear in the TradingView Trading Panel.
You'll see:
- Your account name
- Current balance
- Buying power
- Open positions (if any)
If you see this, you're connected. You can now place trades directly from TradingView charts.
Step 7: Place Your First Trade (Test It)
Before trading live, test the connection with a small position.
- Select an instrument (e.g., NQ, ES, CL)
- Set your order type (Market, Limit, Stop)
- Enter position size (start with 1 contract)
- Click "Buy" or "Sell"
If the order goes through and you see it in your "Positions" tab, the connection is working.
Cancel the test trade immediately (if it's just for testing) and confirm the order cancellation appears in TradingView.
Troubleshooting: Common Connection Errors
Error: "Invalid Credentials"
Cause: You're using the wrong username or password.
Fix:
- Double-check your Tradovate credentials (not your TopOneFutures website login)
- Look for the email from TopOneFutures with your Tradovate account details
- If you changed your Tradovate password recently, use the updated password
Error: "Account Not Found"
Cause: Your Tradovate account isn't fully activated yet.
Fix:
- Log into Tradovate directly (tradovate.com) and confirm your account is active
- If you just signed up, wait 10â15 minutes for the account to fully provision
- Contact TopOneFutures support if the account still doesn't appear after 1 hour
Error: "Authorization Failed"
Cause: TradingView doesn't have permission to access your Tradovate account.
Fix:
- Log into Tradovate, go to Settings > Connected Apps
- Remove any existing TradingView connections
- Try connecting again from TradingView (it will prompt for authorization)
Error: "Broker Connection Lost"
Cause: Session timeout or internet disruption.
Fix:
- Refresh TradingView (F5 or reload the page)
- Reconnect by clicking "Connect Broker" again
- Check your internet connection
Can You Use TradingView Mobile?
Yes. The TradingView mobile app supports Tradovate connections.
To connect on mobile:
- Open the TradingView app
- Go to the "Trade" tab
- Tap "Connect Broker"
- Select Tradovate
- Enter your Tradovate credentials
The process is identical to desktop. Once connected, you can trade from your phone or tablet.
Important: TradingView Order Types and Tradovate
TradingView supports most standard order types:
- Market orders
- Limit orders
- Stop orders
- Stop-limit orders
But there's a catch: bracket orders (OCO orders with both stop-loss and take-profit) are not fully supported via TradingView's Tradovate connection.
You can place a trade with a stop-loss OR a take-profit, but you can't set both simultaneously using TradingView's interface.
If you need bracket orders, you'll need to:
- Use Tradovate's web platform directly
- Or manage your stop-loss and take-profit manually in TradingView after entry
This is a TradingView limitation, not a TopOneFutures restriction.
Does TradingView Connection Affect Drawdown Rules?
No. Your TopOneFutures drawdown rules apply the same way whether you trade on Tradovate web or TradingView.
If you're on an Elite account, your 2.5% daily drawdown and 4% max trailing drawdown are calculated the same.
If you're on S2F Sim PRO, the Trailing Intraday Drawdown (TIDD) tracks identically.
TradingView is just a front-end interface. The backend is still Tradovate, and all rules are enforced server-side.
TradingView Free vs Paid: Do You Need a Subscription?
You can connect to Tradovate and trade using TradingView's free plan.
However, TradingView's free plan has limitations:
- 1 chart layout only
- Limited indicators (3 per chart)
- Ads
If you're serious about trading and want:
- Multiple chart layouts
- More indicators
- No ads
- Faster data refresh
Consider upgrading to TradingView Pro, Pro+, or Premium.
But for basic order execution and charting? The free plan works fine.
Comparing TradingView vs Tradovate Web Platform
Which Platform Should You Use?
Use TradingView if:
- You care more about charting than DOM/ladder execution
- You're already comfortable with TradingView's interface
- You want access to custom indicators and scripts
- You trade based on chart patterns, technical setups, or indicators
Use Tradovate Web if:
- You scalp and need fast DOM (depth-of-market) execution
- You rely on bracket orders (stop-loss + take-profit set at entry)
- You're used to traditional futures platforms
- You don't care about advanced charting
Personally? I use both. TradingView for planning trades, Tradovate for execution. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with TradingView for the charting alone.
Can You Connect Multiple TopOneFutures Accounts to TradingView?
Yes, but only one at a time.
If you have multiple TopOneFutures Tradovate accounts, you can switch between them in TradingView by:
- Disconnecting your current broker
- Reconnecting and entering the credentials for your other account
TradingView doesn't support trading multiple accounts simultaneously from the same interface. You'd need to log out and reconnect to switch accounts.
Does This Work with TopOneFutures NinjaTrader Accounts?
No. NinjaTrader accounts can't connect to TradingView.
If you want TradingView integration, you need a Tradovate-based TopOneFutures account.
My Take: TradingView + Tradovate = Best Setup
I've tested TradingView with every prop firm that supports itâTopOneFutures included. The integration is solid.
Once you're connected, execution speed is identical to trading directly on Tradovate. No lag, no slippage difference. You're basically using TradingView as a prettier front-end for the same backend system.
The only downside is the lack of full bracket order support. If you're a scalper who needs stop + target set at entry, you'll miss that feature. But for swing traders or position traders? TradingView's charting tools are unmatched.
If you're new to TopOneFutures and deciding between Tradovate and NinjaTrader, I'd lean toward Tradovate specifically because of TradingView integration. The charting quality and mobile app alone make it worth it.
Summary: TradingView Connection Checklist
- Confirm you have a Tradovate-based TopOneFutures account
- Log into TradingView and open the Trading Panel
- Select Tradovate as your broker
- Enter your Tradovate credentials (not TopOneFutures website login)
- Authorize TradingView to access your Tradovate account
- Test the connection with a small trade
- Be aware bracket orders aren't fully supportedâuse Tradovate web if you need those
The setup takes 5 minutes. Once you're connected, you're good to go.
