Can you run NinjaTrader on your desktop and RTrader Pro on your laptop simultaneously? Can you monitor your PRO account on your phone while trading from your computer? What happens if you forget to log out of TradingView at the office before connecting at home? TakeProfitTrader's simultaneous login policy determines what combinations work, what triggers account flags, and how to properly connect multiple platforms or devices without violating terms.

Understanding this prevents accidental account suspensions and lets you legally run the setups you need—like DOM on one screen, charts on another, or copy trading across multiple PRO accounts.

Paul from PropTradingVibes

Quick heads-up: This article is based on my real experience with TakeProfitTrader and the info available when I published/updated this. Things change in prop trading — rules, payouts, promos, all of it.

For the absolute latest, check TakeProfitTrader“s website or their knowledge base.

The Core Policy: One Active Connection Per Account

TakeProfitTrader's rule is straightforward: one active trading connection per account at a time.

What this means:

  • One platform connected and sending orders
  • One login session per account credentials
  • One data feed connection active

What it doesn't mean:

  • You can't view your dashboard while trading (that's fine)
  • You can't check positions on mobile while platform is open (also fine)
  • You can't have charts on one screen and DOM on another (you can, with caveats)

The restriction is about active trading connections, not passive monitoring.

Simultaneous Platform Connections

Scenario 1: NinjaTrader + RTrader Pro (Same Account)

Question: Can I run both NinjaTrader and RTrader Pro connected to the same TakeProfitTrader account?

Answer: Yes, but only if you configure NinjaTrader in "plugin mode."

How it works:

RTrader Pro acts as the data connection, and NinjaTrader connects through RTrader as a plugin rather than a direct connection. This counts as one active connection because RTrader is the primary connection.

Setup steps:

  1. Open RTrader Pro and log in with your TPT credentials
  2. Enable "Allow Plugins" in RTrader Pro login window
  3. Wait for RTrader Pro to connect fully
  4. Open NinjaTrader 8
  5. Go to Tools → Connections → Configure
  6. Select your Rithmic connection
  7. Check "Plug-in mode for market data"
  8. Click Apply and OK
  9. Connect NinjaTrader

Now both are running: RTrader Pro provides the data feed, NinjaTrader uses RTrader as its data source. You can trade from either platform without conflict.

Why you'd do this: Use RTrader Pro for quick execution or backup, and NinjaTrader for advanced charting and DOM. Or run RTrader on a second monitor for position monitoring while trading from NinjaTrader.

Scenario 2: TradingView + Tradovate (Same Account)

Question: Can I have TradingView and Tradovate desktop both connected?

Answer: No, not both actively trading.

Workaround: Use TradingView for charting only (disconnect the trading panel), and use Tradovate for order entry. Or vice versa—chart on Tradovate, trade on TradingView.

Why the restriction: Both TradingView and Tradovate connect through the Tradovate broker API. The broker only allows one active session. If you try to connect both, the second connection kicks the first offline.

Scenario 3: Multiple Monitors, Same Platform

Question: Can I run NinjaTrader on two monitors showing different charts?

Answer: Yes, that's one platform connection with multiple windows.

This is not a "simultaneous login" issue—it's one instance of NinjaTrader with multiple chart windows. You're free to have:

  • 10 charts open
  • SuperDOM on screen 2
  • Chart Trader on screen 3
  • Market Analyzer on screen 1

All within one NinjaTrader connection = no problem.

Multiple Accounts: Running 5 PRO Accounts Simultaneously

TakeProfitTrader allows you to trade up to 5 PRO/PRO+ accounts simultaneously. Each account has its own credentials and counts as a separate connection.

How Copy Trading Works

Setup:

  1. Pass 5 separate Test accounts (you can run unlimited Test accounts)
  2. Activate all 5 as PRO accounts ($130 each = $650 total activation)
  3. Each PRO account gets unique login credentials
  4. Connect all 5 accounts to your platform

Option A: NinjaTrader Multi-Account Management

NinjaTrader natively supports multiple account connections. You can:

  • Add all 5 TPT accounts under Tools → Accounts
  • Switch between accounts in Chart Trader or SuperDOM
  • Manually enter trades on each account

Option B: Copy Trading Software

Use third-party copy trading tools that replicate trades from Account 1 to Accounts 2-5 automatically:

  • NinjaTrader ATM Strategies (manual but fast)
  • TradingView Webhooks + Automation (requires coding)
  • Third-party copiers like Seer Trading, MultiCharts, or custom scripts

Important restriction: TakeProfitTrader's rules state you cannot use Tradovate's built-in "Group Trade" feature when trading CQG accounts through TradingView. You must use NinjaTrader or manual entry for copy trading across multiple accounts.

Limits on Multiple Account Trading

Test accounts: Unlimited simultaneous Test accounts allowed

PRO/PRO+ accounts: Maximum 5 active at once (total combined, not 5 of each)

Example valid combinations:

  • 3 PRO + 2 PRO+ = 5 total (allowed)
  • 5 PRO + 0 PRO+ = 5 total (allowed)
  • 2 PRO + 3 PRO+ = 5 total (allowed)

Example invalid combination:

  • 5 PRO + 5 PRO+ = 10 total (not allowed)

Activation limit: You can activate up to 10 passed Tests within 30 days. If you pass 12 Tests in one month, only 10 can be activated. The remaining 2 must wait until 30 days after your first activation.

Dashboard Access While Trading

Question: Can I log into my TakeProfitTrader dashboard on a web browser while my trading platform is connected?

Answer: Yes, dashboard access is separate from trading platform connections.

What you can do simultaneously:

  • Trade on NinjaTrader while viewing account stats in dashboard
  • Check withdrawal status on mobile while trading on desktop
  • Monitor PRO account rules in help center while trading

The dashboard is a web interface, not a trading connection. It doesn't interfere with your platform.

Mobile App + Desktop Platform

Question: Can I monitor my account on my phone while trading on my computer?

Answer: Depends on the mobile app.

If using a broker app (e.g., Tradovate mobile):

  • Logging into Tradovate mobile while desktop Tradovate is active will disconnect the desktop
  • This is a broker-side limitation, not a TPT policy

If using TakeProfitTrader's dashboard on mobile browser:

  • Yes, you can view dashboard stats while trading platform is active
  • Dashboard doesn't count as an active trading connection

Workaround for mobile monitoring: Some traders use Teamviewer or Chrome Remote Desktop to view their desktop platform remotely instead of connecting a separate mobile app.

What Happens If You Violate Simultaneous Login Policy

Accidental Double Login

Scenario: You left TradingView connected at work, drove home, and tried to log into NinjaTrader.

What happens: The second connection attempt either:

  1. Kicks the first connection offline automatically, or
  2. Blocks the second connection with an error message

Most broker APIs handle this automatically—second login forces first logout.

Intentional Policy Violation

Scenario: You try to connect the same account to two computers to "share" with a friend or run trades from two locations.

What happens: TakeProfitTrader's system flags unusual login patterns:

  • Multiple IPs logging in simultaneously
  • Geographically impossible logins (New York and London at same time)
  • Different devices with same credentials in short timeframes

Potential consequences:

  • Account suspension pending investigation
  • Forced password reset
  • Account termination if pattern suggests credential sharing

From TPT's terms: Each account is for individual use only. Sharing credentials or attempting to run one account from multiple users violates terms.

Copy Trading Legality and Restrictions

TakeProfitTrader allows copy trading, but with specific rules.

Allowed Copy Trading

What you can do:

  • Run up to 5 PRO accounts
  • Use software to copy trades from one account to the other 4
  • All 5 accounts must be under your name and KYC
  • Each account trades independently (one violates, only that one disables)

Recommended tools:

  • NinjaTrader + manual replication
  • Custom scripts connecting to API
  • Third-party copiers that support TakeProfitTrader

Prohibited Copy Trading

What you cannot do:

  • Use Tradovate's "Group Trade" feature for CQG accounts in TradingView
  • Copy from someone else's signals to your TPT account (unless you're manually executing)
  • Use automated bots or algorithms to trade (TPT is discretionary trading only)

Why Tradovate Group Trade is blocked: TradingView's CQG connection to Tradovate doesn't support group trading for prop firm accounts. It's a technical limitation, not a TPT policy choice.

Switching Between Devices (Same Account)

Question: I trade from my home desktop but sometimes travel. Can I log in from my laptop while on the road?

Answer: Yes, but disconnect the desktop first.

Best practice:

  1. Close your trading platform on Device A completely (don't just minimize—actually close it)
  2. Wait 1-2 minutes for the connection to fully drop
  3. Open your platform on Device B and log in
  4. You should connect without issues

Why the wait: Some broker connections take 30-60 seconds to fully release. If you immediately try to log in elsewhere, you might get a "connection in use" error.

Pro tip: If you get locked out due to connection conflicts, wait 5 minutes and try again. If still blocked, contact TPT support—they can force-disconnect the stuck session.

VPS (Virtual Private Server) Usage

Many traders run their platforms on a VPS to ensure 24/5 uptime without keeping their home computer on.

Question: Can I connect my TakeProfitTrader account to a VPS?

Answer: Yes, a VPS counts as one connection just like your desktop.

How it works:

  • You remote into the VPS (via Remote Desktop or similar)
  • Trading platform runs on the VPS continuously
  • You access it from your local computer by remote connection
  • The platform connection stays active even when you disconnect your local remote session

Benefits for TPT trading:

  • Platform stays connected during weekly trading requirements
  • No downtime from home internet or computer crashes
  • Faster execution (VPS in Chicago near CME servers = lower latency)

Drawback: VPS costs $30-100/month depending on specs. Only worth it if you're running multiple PRO accounts or need guaranteed uptime.

Common Simultaneous Login Mistakes

Mistake 1: Leaving platform open overnight

You close your laptop without closing NinjaTrader. Next morning, you try to connect on your desktop and can't because the laptop connection is still active.

Fix: Always fully close trading platforms, don't just sleep/hibernate your computer.

Mistake 2: Browser auto-login to TradingView

Your browser remembers your TradingView login and auto-connects whenever you open it, even when you're not actively trading. This blocks your main trading connection.

Fix: Log out of TradingView's trading panel when done, or use incognito mode for charting-only sessions.

Mistake 3: Sharing credentials

You let a friend "try" your TPT account by logging in from their computer while yours is connected.

Fix: Don't. This violates terms and risks account termination. If you want to show someone the platform, use screen share—don't give them your credentials.

FAQ: Simultaneous Logins

Can I run RTrader Pro and NinjaTrader at the same time? Yes, if NinjaTrader is in plugin mode. RTrader acts as the data feed, NinjaTrader connects through it.

Can I monitor my account on mobile while trading on desktop? Yes, if using the TPT dashboard (web browser). No, if trying to connect a broker mobile app while desktop is active.

How many PRO accounts can I trade simultaneously? Up to 5 PRO/PRO+ accounts total (combined).

Can I switch between my desktop and laptop using the same account? Yes, but fully close the platform on one device before connecting on another.

What happens if I accidentally leave TradingView open and try to connect elsewhere? The second connection usually kicks the first offline automatically. If you get locked out, wait 5 minutes or contact support.

Can I use a VPS for my TakeProfitTrader account? Yes, a VPS counts as one connection like any other device.

Bottom Line

TakeProfitTrader allows one active trading connection per account at a time. You can run NinjaTrader and RTrader Pro simultaneously by using plugin mode (RTrader as data feed, NinjaTrader connecting through it), but you cannot connect TradingView and Tradovate simultaneously because both use the Tradovate broker API.

You can trade up to 5 PRO/PRO+ accounts at once using copy trading setups, and each account gets its own credentials and connection. Dashboard access via web browser does not count as an active trading connection, so you can monitor stats while trading. Always fully close platforms when switching devices to avoid connection conflicts, and never share credentials as this violates terms and risks account termination.
